Disney has finally released a synopsis for their upcoming live-action Christopher Robin movie, which sees Winnie the Pooh’s companion all grown up, with a family of his own.
Directed by Finding Neverland’s Marc Forster, the film already boasts a fairly impressive cast as Ewan McGregor takes on the role of the titular character, with Hayley Atwell playing his wife Evelyn Robin, and Jim Cummings leading the voice actors as the voice of Winnie the Pooh – so it’s hard not to get a little excited.
The film will tackle the life of an older Christopher Robin, many years after his adventures with honey-loving companion. Married, with a family of his own, Christopher has become a cynical man, and so it is up to his old friends to reinvigorate him, motivating him to live life to the fullest.
With less than six months before the film arrives in cinemas, Disney has finally released an official synopsis for Christopher Robin, leaving us to believe that perhaps a trailer isn’t too far behind:
“In the heart-warming live action adventure “Disney’s Christopher Robin,” the young boy who loved embarking on adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with a band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside.”
It’s no surprise that Disney is pitching this as a “heart-warming” adventure, given that this story will revisit characters that many of us grew up with. And though this will be a adaptation, we should expect to see Forster’s own creative flair come through, keeping the film fresh and interesting, much like the other live-action offerings from the House of Mouse in previous years.
Disney’s Christopher Robin is released on August 3rd this year.
