At Disney’s D23 Expo in Japan, we were treated to some glorious new footage and screenshots of the highly anticipated game Kingdom Hearts 3 revealing an entire new Monsters Inc. world.
Since its initial announcement news on the conclusion to the Kingdom Hearts trilogy has been thin on the bones, last year we got the announcement of a few worlds including another Pixar title Toy Story, but other than that Square Enix has kept us guessing. However, today’s announcement has started to finally fill in the gaps. Were shown a much longer extended trailer (which you can see below), introduced to a new world, new gameplay and a confirmed release window of 2018.
The Monster’s Inc. world showcased here shows various environments around the Scare Factory seen in the cult Pixar classic. From the Door Vault to the Scare floor, it’s clear we are going to be getting a fully-fledged version of the factory to explore (Which as a huge Monsters Inc. Fan is extremely exciting). You’ll be interacting with characters from the film including Boo, Sully and Mike Wazowski along with some other cameos. What even cooler is it seems that when you enter the Monsters Inc. world Sora and co are transformed into Monsters themselves with all 3 of them receiving the Monsters Inc. treatment in character design.
The new Gameplay trailer also shows off more footage of the Tangled and Toy Story worlds previously announced but with worlds still left under wraps by Square Enix well have to wait until E3 to find out more. Its said that a concrete release date will also be announced then meaning we won’t be able to get our hands on Kingdom Hearts 3 until after June of this year.
