This week on ‘Things No One Asked For But Apparently We’re Getting Anyway’ – Marvel is teaming up with singer The Weeknd, to develop a Starboy comic.
On Saturday, the two-time Grammy-Award winning artist announced via Twitter that he and the famed publisher would be collaborating together on a new comic, entitled Starboy, sharing it’s name with the musician’s 2016 album.

The book, set for release in 2018, has no official description or synopsis as-yet, however the cover image for the first issue was released prior to The Weeknd’s signing at NYCC on Saturday.
This isn’t the first time Marvel has teamed up with a musician for a series. Back in March, they worked with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am on a new graphic novel, entitled Masters of the Sun – The Zombie Chronicles, which was released in July.
Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should, and a successful musician doesn’t guarantee a successful comicbook. And while we can’t judge a comicbook before its release, it begs the question of what successful musician will be next on Marvel’s list – Beyonce? Adele?
Let’s be honest, the main question here is just ‘why?’
