Production on the second season of Marvel’s Runaways is rumoured to start April, to end in September.
The first season was released on Hulu over several weeks, starting in November of last year. It was a fairly slow burn series, with the creators choosing to not have the kids actually run away until in the closing moments of the season. Thankfully, however, Hulu renewed the series, and so fans are guaranteed to see the comic favourites on the run.
Up until now, details on Season 2 have been hard to come by, as we haven’t even had a tease of the general story. Pretty much all we know right now is that the main cast of runaways and their parents will return to their roles for the second season – beyond that, there’s little information circulating.
However, PursueNews has reported that Season 2 of Runaways will begin filming in late April. Filming will once again take place in Los Angeles, continuing to operate under the ‘Rugrats’ working title, and starting at this time means that filming is expected to come to an end in September.
This is a much smaller window of time than Runaways had on the run-up to its debut. The pilot of the show was filmed last March, however production then took a break as the series’ fate was decided. When Hulu gave a full series order, filming picked up again in a few months time, before wrapping in late October. Given that the series began streaming only a month later, this timeframe could see Season 2 beginning in October or November of this year.
Season 2 of Runaways will have 13 episodes, 3 more than the first. Should the April production date be correct, we should learn who will be playing additional cast members in the coming months.
