It’s been almost 20 years since the release of the first Starship Troopers film hit the screens, and finally the sequel is on the way. Continuing the original story (albeit in CG), the movie will not be holding back on the gore and action, with an official rating of R.
Based on a script from the original writer of Starship Troopers, Ed Neumeier, this sequel will see Johnny Rico having been demoted and sent to a small satellite station on Mars whilst the Federation attacks the bugs’ home planet. However, while Johnny tries to train his new recruits, the bugs show up in a surprise attack – and the Federation’s Fleet is too far away to help. It will also feature original cast members Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyers reprising their roles as Johnny Rico and Dizzy Flores, respectively.
Set for a small cinema release in the US on August 21st only, there’s no knowledge of release elsewhere – but fear not, we’ll keep you updated on Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars, and it’s future releases.
