Syfy has officially confirmed that new DC series Krypton will premiere in March next year – and they have also released a synopsis which outlines the threat that Kryptonians face.
If Gotham has proved anything, it’s that inventive prequels can be hugely successful – and Krypton promises to be an inventive new hit to take the superhero world by storm. One side of the story is a prequel which explores Kryptonian culture, however the other is a time-travel adventure where Superman’s enemies attempt to erase their foe from history.
The new synopsis reads:
“Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, KRYPTON follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray, Seg-El encounters Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who warns he’s under the clock to save his beloved world from chaos. Fighting to redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves, Seg is also faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson.”
This exciting story will be set against the rich backdrop of Kryptonian cultural history. The series also explores a romance between Cameron Cuffe’s Seg-El and Georgina Campbell’s Lyta Zod, and in Krypton’s caste-based society, a science caste such as House El and a military caste, like House Zod, Seg-El and Lyta Zod’s secret romance could easily destabilise the planet’s power balance. Brainiac and friends come forth at a time when Krypton’s future is being decided, and if they get their way, Earth may never see baby Kal-El.
Krypton will premiere on Syfy in March, 2018.
