Team Killing Removed From Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th developer Gun Media recently released a list of bannable offences which included threats of sexual assault or violence and deliberate abuse of game exploits. Noticeably missing from the list was team killing which caused fans to question why it had been left off of the list. Gun Media seemed to disagree and said that the ability to kill team members was just a part of the game.

It seems the developer has eased off on this opinion as they have removed the ability to harm your team members from the game entirely via a new update. Speaking in a blog post, the team stated; “So the biggest thing we’ve heard from our community with the game are issues pertaining to rampant team-killing that has unfortunately been abused by players on all platforms. While the mechanic’s intent is designed to promote life-or-death experiences into each and every game you play, the reality has turned into more of a Battle Royale scenario to a point our team feels a change needs to be made.”

This will no doubt be a big change for the game moving forward and has been met with concerns that players will use their new found invincibility to grief others. It’s worth noting that Team Killing is still possible in Private matches and that cars and traps will still kill you.

Friday the 13th launched May 26 and features asymmetric gameplay where a group of camp councillors must evade the murderous grasp of Jason. The game recently passed 1.8 millions sold and a physical copy was announced for an October 13 launch.
