After last week’s teaser, the Super Bowl brought with it the highly-anticipated trailer for the second season of Westworld.
HBO’s Westworld has been developed for TV by Burn Notice’s Lisa Joy, and The Dark Knight Trilogy’s Jonathan Nolan, with J.J. Abrams taking on the role of executive producer. So, with all this sci-fi talent behind the camera, along with the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, James Marsden and Ed Harris in front of it, it’s no surprise that the series was an instant hit when it premiered in 2016.
It’s no surprise that Season 2 is looking to be bigger and better than the first.
HBO released the first official trailer this weekend during the Super Bowl, showing us the first real footage from the upcoming season, which brings back Marsden’s Teddy Flood, Wood’s Dolores Abernathy, Wright’s Bernard Lowe, Newton’s Maeve Millay and Harris’ Man in Black.
As an HBO show, like Game of Thrones, Westworld has been kept under wraps by some of the most secretive producers in Hollywood, and therefore this new trailer doesn’t give a whole picture of Season 2, and probably doesn’t even touch a significant amount of the story. It will undoubtedly give birth to a number of new fan theories, most of which will stem from the first season’s shocking cliff-hanger, but we’ll just have to wait and see what Westworld has to offer when it returns this spring.
Westworld returns on April 22nd.
